I Am A Refugee

I am a refugee who escaped from genocide,
Now I look for a safe place to survive 
To save my life and dignity 
I am a survivor. 
I am a refugee.

I have lost my entire life with no name,
The suffering continues;
I scream with my testimony to repeat it
Because I come with too many invisible treasures,
I am a refugee.

The future found nowhere in peace,
I thought I could have this world to stay with home like you;
I am a refugee of humanity’s lowest moments,
My issues are made messed and sensitive 
But still like time, I struggle and I move,
I am a refugee.

Every year I dream to find a new life.
Sometimes I feel the world is coming to the end;
No one can narrate, the suffering of the refugee
The suffering of Rohingya,
Now I belong nowhere till 26 years in refugee life;
It is lifeless and stressful. 
Being a Rohingya refugee

I pretend to be happy but my heart is in pain.
Everyone knows I am in pain,
But nobody wants to talk about it again;
You treat me differently,
Because I am a refugee. 
I am still a victim.

Please don't make more story on us 
All I ask is for change, new change 
Just do solve refugee crisis 
I am a refugee, 
Just like you, a Human Being!

Born in Malaysia, I am truly honoured to be in this book together with awesome Malaysians, Refugees and migrants. The book has wonderful words and photographs! I remember back in 2016 when Kenny Loh meet with me. He was friendly and warm enough to talk me through and taking photos of my life. My tears ran down while I was explaining my situation to him where I lived, a tiny room at the back of a building. It housed more than 20 people and there was only one bathroom to serve our needs. It was stifling hot under the zinc roof, but I was grateful for the roof over my head. In my room, there were a few mementos to remind him of home. I hope that people will read and share my story. Gratitude – and advice – to Malaysia from a Rohingya refugee

Published by ASIA TIMES  I am a Rohingya refugee in Malaysia. In October 2014, human traffickers kidnapped me from outside the Kutupalong refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. They covered my face and tied my hands and beat me before putting me on a boat from which I was sold to other traffickers in Thailand. I was held captive in a trafficking camp for 13 days in southern Thailand. I was not given food for five days. I obtained freedom when Thai police rescued 134 Rohingya people in Ranong province. I was kept by the police in an immigration detention center (IDC). After I was declared a victim of human trafficking, I was sent to an IDC shelter in Songkhla, Thailand. I escaped from that facility because there was a Rohingya boy who was beaten by shelter officers. After a month, however, I was arrested again and sold again to traffickers.
