Over 30 active refugee community leaders and representatives came together for "Media Advocacy Workshop," in hopes of launching their own campaigns to fight and work for their community through advocacy and social media. GIVE refugees RIGHT to work

Image
By  MIGRANT WORKERS RIGHT TO REDRESS COALITION WE welcome the Minister of Human Resources statement that a positive announcement with regard to employment for refugees can be expected soon.  There are many compelling reasons in favour of providing a legal and administrative framework for refugees in Malaysia.  The economic benefits this will bring to the country are well documented. A recent parliamentary briefing also highlighted the advantages.  It will also help in the fight against terrorism, human trafficking and modern-day slavery. Human traffickers are happiest when they can prey upon people who are most vulnerable and unprotected.  The refugee communities all over the world are obvious recruiting grounds for human traffickers. People fleeing from horrific situations, as from Myanmar, are easy prey.  We all recollect with shame the horrors of the Wang Kelian death camps on the border with Thailand, where thousands of refugees and migrants were held, vi

The Gambia VS Myanmar Case at the ICJ

The Gambia VS Myanmar Case at the ICJ By Aman Ullah On 11 November 2019, the Republic of The Gambia instituted proceedings against the Republic of the Union of Myanmar before the International Court of Justice, the principal judicial organ of the United Nations, alleging violations of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide through “acts adopted, taken and condoned by the Government of Myanmar against members of the Rohingya group”. Ziaur Rahman, Rohingya

Many people told me I am inspiration to others and that I am brave...I AM NOT...I am just trying to show how the rohingya get through. They are the people who are inspiring, strong, courageous and brave. Those people who are jealous and non rohingya/refugees make me brave. They have taught me, trained me, gave me insight in my work and give me lessons everyday! You all are my inspiration!  🙏

Recent photos from my village in Myanmar shows there is no one is left behind in my village. We have left of our ancestral homeland to escape brutal persecutions and ongoing  Genocide  in  Myanmar . Most of those who managed to escape took refuge in  Bangladesh ,  India ,  Thailand ,  Malaysia  and others countries as well. And few of them were killed by the Myanmar authorities including one of my uncle.  We can find here the mosque is no longer existing in my village in Fáñthia Fara, Mee Chaung Zay, Buthidaung township which was built by Alia borow before 1956. I was an infant when my family fled to Bangladesh between 1992 - 1993. The last exodus was in 2017. So sad to see all the horrible scenes and plight of our people which is on going. We have worked hard. We have no tears left and no hope left as to whether we can go back to our homeland Myanmar. We still hope we can return to Myanmar with international protection or safe zone. I

Rohingya in 2008, Thailand

Image
I took all these photos from my Thai friend a while ago. She received from the Royal Thai Navy in 2008. These all are the first pictures that she ever had to see how the rohingya crisis looks likes! The Royal Thai Navy lined up the Rohingya refugees on the beach. No one know how many were killed. But the boat people were more than 250 people. All the photo is proof that many rohingyas were killed and thousands lost their lives in the sea!
