My family in 01/03/1999: The UNHCR started a thorough census of the population inside the camp in 1998 which included taking photographs, posing with the Myanmar Refugee Code ( MRC ) with the name of the family head. Growing in refugee camps was not easy, besides my father abandoned us while I was two years old. My mom later worked and started her own business of selling chicken and working at a Soap Factory which was implemented by TAI ( Technical Assistance Incorporated , NGO) and supported by UNHCR. Yes, the general food was not enough and there was lack of safety and security for the rohingya refugees as well as in non-camps areas. The camps are not surrounded by any fence or wall. Bangladeshi locals could walk into the camps freely and inflict harm onto the rohingya refugees without any reprimand. In the camp Rohingyas faced problems such as robbery, stealing, kidnapping, raping and physical torture which were on the rise in an alarming way in

Finally happened in Singapore with the support of  Advocates For Refugees - SG  and  HiddenAsia  conversation on Rohingya refugees in Malaysia & elsewhere! There was screen "Selfie with the Prime Minister" to talk about what’s going on and what can be done, especially by Singaporeans. Thank you everyone for your patience, loves, and solidarity with refugees in this difficult moment!

    ZIAUR RAHMAN & SELFIE WITH THE PM In the first CWS, we screened "Selfie With The Prime Minister" a documentary directed and produced by  HiddenAsia featuring Rohingya Activist Ziaur Rahman. Following the documentary screening, our Research Coordinator Nursyazwani moderated a post-screening talk with Abhishek and Dr Oh Su-Ann.

In Malaysia there is no program of refugee camps and no financial support from anyone since the refugees arrived and took shelter here.

Many people have done positive things for refugees Filipo Grandi who is the High Commissioner for refugees, Michelle Bachelet from the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and UN Special Rapporteur Yangee Lee have made visits to Malaysia with regards to seeing to the plight of  rohingya  and refugees. The visits have been important in raising awareness of our problems but I wish that their efforts will be followed through. We refugees have our share of problems  in Malaysia and little progress has been made over the years despite visits from dignitaries. It is my wish that one day there will be basic rights at least so that refugee children can study in local schools in Malaysia and refugees to work legally. What will our future be without education and work permit? How can we contribute to the society without those things. How can we contribute when we are unsure when we will eat to survive and pay the house rent. Remember: In Malaysia there is n
